When People Leave You is my 70,000 word manuscript geared towards the Young Adult Fiction audience.
This coming of age story follows fifteen-year-old Drew as he tries to get through school after a year off, drawing as little attention to himself as possible. Prior to the story, Drew lost his father during the same summer his brother left for college. Now, three years later, Drew's brother is inexplicably returning home in the middle of the year. In the meantime, a school fire alarm triggers a series of events that unite Drew with the mysterious punk rock girl from the back of the classroom, Alison. He also begins opening up to the trio of guys he sits with at lunch. However, just as Drew begins feeling more comfortable in the aftermath of his father's death, things aren't quite how Drew imagined they'd be once his brother returns.
This manuscript is at the stage where it is ready for the publication process.
